Universal POS Receipt Printer and Cash Drawer Setup
Using the Generic/Text Only Printer Driver
(For Receipt Printers used with Windows 95/98/Me)
Windows 95/98/Me Generic/Text Only Printer Driver Setup
To load the Generic/Text Only Printer driver that is included with Windows 95/98/Me, select: Start - Settings - Printers - Add Printer, then use the Add Printer Wizard to select the “Generic” printer (from the Wizard’s Manufactures list).
For the Generic printer, select Printer - Properties - Details tab - Spool Settings button, then select the “Print Directly to Printer“ option. This option uses only RAW data to the printer. If you choose to use the spooling capabilities, be sure to select the RAW data and not EMF, POS printers do not find Windows 95 new EMF (Enhanced Metafile Format) to their liking.
Select the Paper tab, then Continuous - No Page Break (the Paper Size must remain on LETTER).
Select Apply and OK to close the Printer Properties.
The next time you enter the POS Cash Register, you will need to select File|Select Printer, then choose the Generic/Text Only printer. The Cash Register will remember this setting.
Enter the POS Office.
From the main menu select Setup|Receipt Setup, then on the Universal Settings tab select the POS (tape) Printer option and check the Default=Print Receipts box.
Enter the POS (tape) Printer tab. Select Printer Drivers: "Generic/Text Only" and Advance after Print: “7”. (See the manual for specifics information on other Receipt setup preference options.)
If the POS Cash Register was open (on the task bar) it will need to be Exited, then reopened to accept these new settings.
In the Cash Register select File, Select Printer, and select the Generic Text Only Driver. This setting will be retained when shut down.
Cash Drawer Setup
If you will be opening a cash drawer with the printer, select Setup|Equipment Setup, or click the Equipment Setup Icon.
Select the Cash Drawer tab.
In the Cash Drawer Connection box select the appropriate type cash drawer connection. If you purchased the equipment from us, you will select the Star or Citizen Printer (ASCII 7).
If the Cash Register was open (on the task bar) it will need to be Exited, then reopened to accept these new settings.
